Orean Outreach Projects

Community and Volunteering Outreach Work

Orean take part in a variety of projects that support local communities in initiatives to alleviate loneliness and improve the employability skills of a diverse range of individuals within the region. Working with many secondary schools and colleges in the Kirklees and surrounding area, the business volunteers invaluable advice and guidance to young adults to increase employability skills and drive aspirations. We also deliver workshops, enterprise days, inspirational careers talks and opportunities for work experience and apprenticeships to young people.

Some of the outreach projects Orean currently support are:

  • Ahead Partnership, delivers social value projects that overcome inequality, promote opportunity and deliver positive change within society. They provide employer-led careers activities for students from Year 5 to undergraduate level. Orean volunteer at a range of events, partaking in exciting and innovative programmes of activities for schools and their students inspiring conversations around roles within the cosmetics industry and giving talks from role models within the business.

  • Spear Leeds offer a six-week programme for 16 – 24 year olds that compiles of expert coaching, employability and life skills to help young people overcome whatever challenges they face, and equip them with the skills and mindset needed to get into work or education. Orean support young people in the programme to help understand more about the career ladder and learn about what qualities and attributes are needed to not only gain employment, but also progress in employment, and to see that hard work and a positive attitude are the most important characteristics for any employee.

  • Bradford Nightstop's emergency scheme has been providing accommodation for homeless young people in the homes of vetted and trained volunteers. Orean regularly donates surplus filled products of skincare and haircare products that make up part of care packages for the accommodation of homeless young people. We will be working in conjunction with the Education Work programme to help challenge the stereotypes often associated with homelessness and homeless people and to assist in offering employment advice.

  • Give a Few Words is a community project created to help alleviate some of the isolation and loneliness faced by many care home residents unable to meet family and friends through a letter-writing scheme. Orean took part in the #LettersforChristmas campaign, with employees donating letters, cards, drawings to the charity, submitting wrapped presents of surplus filled products to go alongside as self-care packages for Christmas. We will be supporting this project in monthly letter writing for the scheme.

  • Dewsbury Soup is an evening of soup, socialising and crowdfunding in North Kirklees. Volunteers from Orean attend evenings to support local community initiatives and network with charities to create new contacts and opportunities to support.
